The Traffic Police (TP) will void demerit points and refund any composition sums paid for 1,523 speeding tickets that were erroneously issued between 30 October and 8 December 2025, when the speed limit for three speed enforcement cameras along the Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) was incorrectly set at 70 km/h. This was 10 km/hr lower than the actual speed limit of 80 km/h.
TP discovered the error during a regular audit conducted in mid-December 2025. The three enforcement cameras along KPE are managed by LTA on behalf of TP, under a larger service contract for KPE’s traffic management system. The incorrect speed limit setting was made by LTA’s contractor during a hardware replacement on 30 October 2025. The error was promptly rectified by the contractor when discovered by TP. All speed cameras along the KPE managed under this service contract have been checked to ensure that the speed limits are set correctly. As a precautionary measure, TP has also checked all other speed cameras islandwide.
Affected motorists do not need to take any action. TP will be notifying them of the error. All tickets and demerit points erroneously issued for speeding violations detected will be voided. Those who have already paid their composition sums will receive refunds through PayNow or bank transfer.
TP and LTA sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. We take a serious view of this matter and are strengthening our checks and controls to prevent similar occurrences.
Affected motorists with questions or concerns may contact TP via the SPF Feedback portal (https://www.police.gov.sg/feedback).
