As 2025 draws to a close, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) reflects on a year of historic milestones, operational excellence and strengthened community partnerships. From commemorating the 50th anniversary of Police National Service (PNS) and the SPF Band’s centenary to ensuring the safety and security for landmark events, our officers and volunteers rose to every challenge. Here’s how proactive operations and strong collaboration maintained Singapore’s status as one of the world’s safest cities, with Gallup’s 2025 Global Safety Report ranking Singapore as the safest country in the world (98% of Singapore residents feel safe walking alone in their areas at night), and 97% of respondents to the SPF’s 2024 Public Perception Survey indicating trust in the SPF.

Celebrating Historic Milestones

2025 was a landmark year for the SPF, with multiple units marking significant anniversaries that celebrated our rich legacy of dedicated service.

One highlight was the Police Day Observance Ceremony on 3 June, during which the SPF unveiled the striking House of Colours – a formation of ceremonial flags representing 19 Police units. For the first time, these vibrant flags were carried by National Service Inspectors, paying tribute to PNS officers on the occasion of PNS50.

At the same ceremony, the SPF Band honoured its centenary with a specially commissioned Centennial Mace that featured a sculpted lion’s head, historic Police insignias and engravings of the Force’s core values – Courage, Loyalty, Integrity and Fairness.

The Annual Police Dinner, which had the theme “Securing Our Future Together,” continued the celebrations with a special Band performance and the sealing of a time capsule containing 50 years of PNS memories.

Other notable milestones included the Police Security Command’s 75th anniversary, the Police K-9 Unit's 70th anniversary and the Organised Crime Branch and Financial Investigation Branch’s 10th anniversaries.

From the Polls to Parades

In 2025, our officers also played a pivotal role in securing several national events, demonstrating operational excellence and seamless coordination.

The General Election on 3 May saw more than 10,000 regular officers, Full-time PNS officers, and Volunteer Special Constabulary officers deployed islandwide to maintain public order, manage crowds at polling stations and election meeting sites, and ensure a smooth electoral process. With 1,240 polling stations across Singapore requiring security coverage, officers were present from nomination centres to counting centres, working with other agencies to safeguard electoral integrity. Despite the increased ground deployment due to additional polling stations, the large-scale operations proceeded smoothly with no major law and order incidents reported.

In August, nearly 2,000 officers were deployed for duties at the National Day Parade on the occasion of Singapore’s 60th birthday. Police officers and retirees participated in the Guard-of-Honour Contingent and Mobile Column respectively whilst enhanced security measures kept attendees safe throughout the festivities and fireworks display.

For the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in October, Police officers coordinated road closures, crowd management measures and security operations in the Marina Bay and Padang areas, with auxiliary officers ensuring minimal disruptions for spectators.

Enforcement in Action

The SPF’s operational prowess shone through in 2025, with proactive enforcement blitzes to fight crime. Targeted enforcement operations were carried out throughout the year with the support of other public agencies such as the Central Narcotics Bureau, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Health Sciences Authority.

These operations targeted vice, illegal gambling, drug offences and secret society activities in areas such as Whampoa, Orchard, Rochor, Little India, Geylang, Joo Chiat and the Bukit Timah area. Other proactive operations disrupted unlicensed moneylending activities, cross-border remittance syndicates and organised crime groups. The SPF also collaborated with five regional police forces in an operation against online child sexual exploitation across Asia in early 2025.

In the ongoing battle against scams, the Anti-Scam Command and Anti-Scam Centre spearheaded high-impact operations including Operation FRONTIER+ with agencies disrupting transnational syndicates, and a joint operation with Malaysia that froze suspected scam-linked accounts. Partnerships with local banks using Robotic Process Automation technology in multiple blitzes identified potential victims and foiled scam attempts. Public education efforts reached new milestones with the inaugural National Anti-Scam Roadshow in November drawing more than 15,000 visitors, teaching the public to “ACT” against scams through interactive exhibits and games.

Such coordinated actions – from early-hour enforcement blitzes to public education campaigns – showcased the power of agencies working together to fight crime and ensure public safety.

Policing Smarter

Innovation and technology took centre stage in 2025 with the SPF partnering with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency to deploy cutting-edge policing solutions on the ground.

As Singapore’s first fully automated Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC), Woodleigh NPC was recognised in the “Best Innovative Idea in Security and Law Enforcement” category at the World Police Summit Awards. The NPC was recognised for its self-help kiosks and found property drop boxes as well as its Automated Equipping and Armoury Systems, which allows officers to withdraw and return their equipment and arms more efficiently.

Police services also took a step forward with the AI-powered Report Lodging Co-Pilot (R-COP),  which was launched in October across seven Police Division Headquarters. This intelligent chatbot feature at self-help kiosks guides citizens in lodging reports, generating accurate drafts and reducing the need for unnecessary follow-ups.

Tech is on the move in the SPF, in more ways than one! Since July 2025, the Airport Police Division has deployed GIBSON, a rideable indoor patrol robot that enhances Police presence and mobility within Changi Airport.

The Traffic Police strengthened road safety through comprehensive enforcement, education and engagement efforts in 2025. Beyond introducing the Traffic Violation Enforcement Cameras, Handheld Breath Evidential Analysers and electric patrol vehicles, TP activated speed enforcement functions at more Red Light Cameras, contributing to nearly 120,000 speeding detections in the first half of the year—a 45% increase from the previous period.

The Force also extended the mandatory speed limiter regime for heavy vehicles to include lorries, and prepared for enhanced speeding penalties taking effect in 2026. Educational initiatives complemented enforcement, with the Singapore Road Safety Month in June and the Singapore Traffic Games in November engaging over 14,000 students from 141 schools in road safety learning.

These innovations reinforce the principle that technology can serve as a vital force multiplier in keeping Singapore safe.

SaferSG Starts with Us

Community engagement remained central to the SPF’s efforts in 2025, with a range of initiatives to foster collaboration and public trust.

The Police Community Roadshow returned with crowd-pleasing editions at Woodlands and Heartbeat@Bedok. Featuring interactive exhibits, anti-scam Virtual Reality games, Police vehicles, staged demonstrations and performances by the SPF Band, the Roadshows also saw the launch of the “SaferSG, Together” movement, which mobilises public partnerships in crime prevention, scam education, road safety and emergency preparedness.

Our dedicated volunteers were also recognised for their contributions. The inaugural National SaferSG Awards Ceremony on 5 December honoured outstanding volunteers and partners who demonstrated how safety is a shared responsibility. From community leaders to seasoned volunteers, these individuals stepped up to work alongside our officers in blue.

When it came to student engagement, our officers once again showed where their heart is. Programmes like Camp ACE on Pulau Ubin provided continued support for at-risk youth, offering them mentorship and a crime-free path forward.

Such initiatives foster trust and engagement with the community. After all, the safest communities are those in which we all have part to play. As we look forward to 2026, the SPF remains committed to working with you to safeguard every day!
