Road Safety Initiatives

Content Overview

The Traffic Police (TP) adopts a three-pronged approach of Education, Engagement and Enforcement to improve road safety in Singapore. Apart from being seen as 'enforcers' on the roads, TP aims to bring about a positive mindset, and attitudinal change among road users, thus creating a safer road environment and culture for all.

TP introduced the 'Use Your RoadSense' movement in 2015 to drive and sustain TP's road safety engagement efforts. The aim of the movement was to engage road users and various key stakeholders in the community, such as the transport industry, and to instil and spark a positive mindset change amongst road users through dialogue and advocacy on road safety. It also introduced the concept of 'RoadSense', envisaged as a representation of positive road safety attitudes to encourage all road users to play their part in shaping a safe road culture in Singapore.

Road users are engaged through targeted initiatives and campaigns. Regular programmes include:

  • Singapore Road Safety Month
  • Singapore Ride Safe Event
  • Reward the Sensible Motorists Campaign
  • Singapore Traffic Games
  • Anti-Drink & Drive Campaign

As part of its engagement efforts, TP also runs the 'Use Your RoadSense' Facebook page.
