Singapore Traffic Games

Content Overview

For over six decades, the Traffic Games have been a cherished rite of passage for generations of Singaporeans. Children learn about traffic laws through playing the roles of pedestrians, cyclists, and go-kart drivers. (Photo credit: © SPH Media Limited)

Since 1958, the annual Traffic Games have been a cornerstone of TP's road safety education efforts. The Games continue to play a relevant and crucial role in instilling good road safety habits in our children. Just in 2024, over 16,000 children from 122 primary schools and 15 kindergartens visited the Road Safety Community Park to learn basic traffic rules, like how to cross the road properly. This helps develop good road safety habits from a young age, keeping our children safe on the roads.

In 2023, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the STG, TP, SRSC and MOE produced a special postage stamp pack for stakeholders and partners who have contributed significantly to the games. This stamp pack featured photographs of four generations of students participating in the STG, and chronicled various milestones in the games' history.

The highlight of the event was the premiere of our new road safety video – 'Cross Safely'. This impactful video emphasises the dangers of unsupervised children playing near roads and serves as a stark reminder to family members, guardians, teachers, and caregivers, to always supervise children near roads, and teach them about the dangers of crossing between parked vehicles.

The launched video, 'Cross Safely' urges family members, guardians, teachers, and caregivers, to always supervise children near roads.

TP remains committed to enhancing road safety, especially for children. Together with our stakeholders and partners, let's create safer roads environment for all.
