Man Arrested For Voyeurism

The Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series case of voyeurism. 

On 10 October 2023, at about 9.15am, the Police were alerted by a member of the public that a man had allegedly took upskirt photographs of a female victim while she was standing on an ascending escalator at Downtown MRT Station, towards Marina Bay Financial Centre, Tower 2. 

The member of the public informed the victim of the act, and the man was stopped at the end of the escalator where he was subsequently arrested by the Police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is purportedly involved in other similar cases of voyeurism. 

A raid was conducted at the man’s residence and two handphones and a Central Processing Unit (CPU) were seized as case exhibits. Police investigations are ongoing.

The man will be charged in court on 12 October 2023. The offence of voyeurism, under Section 377BB(5)(b) of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments. 

The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
