Who are we?

Established in 1925, the SPF Band has evolved from a small regimental marching band of 33-officers into one of Singapore's distinguished military bands, known for its commitment to upholding the values of discipline, unity, and pride through music.

Over the years, the SPF Band has been more than just a fixture at national events and ceremonies and has become an important part of Singapore's cultural scene. With a diverse repertoire that ranges from military marches and classical pieces to contemporary works, the Band has consistently captivated audiences both locally and abroad. Its history highlights its role in strengthening ties between the police and the public, while embodying the professionalism, resilience, and dedication that define the Singapore Police Force.

The military band provides musical support for ceremonial events and plays a crucial role in parades, graduations, and official ceremonies, enhancing their grandeur and prestige. In addition to these performances, the band also plays bugle calls and provides music for police funerals, honoring fallen officers with dignity and respect.

Aligning with the mission of the SPF Band, the concert band acts as the softer public facing side of the SPF through the universal language of music. From concerts, outreaches, and charities, the concert band provides music and entertainment to the public.

The Women Police Pipes and Drums (WPPD) was formed on 1 August 1972 as part of the SPF Band. Besides performing at SPF events, the prestigious all-women pipe band is regularly invited to perform in overseas music festivals and military tattoos. 

The band also has the distinction of being the only service band in Singapore that is complemented by bagpipes and drums. The Gurkha Contingent Pipes and Drums (GCPD) regularly combines with the SPF Band and WPPD to form the SPF Combined Band, and performs at selected high-profile events.

The SPF Band also features various smaller ensembles made up of different instruments and musical styles. These groups are versatile and can adapt to the specific needs of each event, offering tailored performances that suit different atmospheres, from formal receptions to community outreach events.

The SPF Band has a history of representing Singapore on a global stage, participating in international music festivals and military tattoos, promoting Singaporean culture through music.
